The boot knife is one of the classic American blade patterns, a slim, balanced fixed blade with a slender profile, built to ride low and carry easily. The Gil Hibben Old West Boot Knife takes that tradition and gives it the finish of a collector's piece.
This is a Gil Hibben design, drawn up by Gil Hibben, an American custom knifemaker and a member of the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame, best known as the designer behind some of the most recognizable knives in film. The Old West Boot Knife is a factory production version of a Hibben design: his shape and proportions, made affordably enough to actually own and carry.
The blade is 6-1/2" of mirror-polished 7Cr13 stainless steel, ground to a clean spearpoint with a polished brass spine plate running along the top, the detail that gives the knife its Old West character. At 56–58 HRC the steel sits in a sensible range for a fixed blade: hard enough to take and hold a working edge, tough enough to stand up to use. A stainless steel guard and pommel frame a contoured black pakkawood handle, and the whole knife measures 10-5/8" overall at about 8 oz, so it has real presence in the hand.
It ships with a black leather boot sheath with a clip, so it's ready to store and display or carry the way a boot knife is meant to be.

About the designer
Gil Hibben is one of the most recognized names in American knifemaking, a Cutlery Hall of Fame inductee whose designs have appeared across decades of film and television. United Cutlery's Hibben Custom Design Series brings his shapes to production at a price collectors can reach, and the Old West Boot Knife is one of the more elegant silhouettes in that line.
